Aluminum ASCR
ASCR (Aluminum Conductors Steel Reinforced) conductors are used for overhead and ground wire installations, river crossings, and ground wire. Aluminum Breakage Casting alloys containing more than 5% foreign material. Aluminum Breakage is commonly found with aluminum engines and transmission parts but also used in other products. Aluminum Bumpers Commonly seen as a 7000 series with zinc as the principal alloying element, though may find some truck bumpers to be a 5052 alloy with magnesium being the principal alloying element. Aluminum Cans A commonly used consumer product this is a 1100 alloy. Was once known as UBC (used beverage can) or RBF-UBC. Aluminum Cast Cast aluminum can be produced using several different casting processes that include sand, permanent mold, die, lost foam, or squeeze. Common products will be found with engine parts, transmissions as well as other not so common products. Cast can be bought as clean as long as all foreign material has been removed, if not it could be bought as a breakage. Aluminum Clips A very common mix of 1100, 3003, 3004, 5005, 5052, 6061 and 6063 aluminum. This type is familiarized, like most aluminum products, with a sheet like appearance, free of any foreign elements. Aluminum Dirty Sheet This category contains all alloys of sheet aluminum that have a small amount of any foreign element in them. Examples include rain gutter, lawn chairs, siding, and other sheet aluminum products. Aluminum EC Wire A common conductor, which is protected by rubber or plastics layers and is found in different sized wire. The aluminum content in EC wire is large, being no less than is no than 99.5%. Aluminum Extrusion Aluminum extrusions are commonly found in the alloys of 6061 and 6063. This is used with magnesium and silicon in various proportions to form magnesium silicone, creating a heat treatable aluminum alloy with notable strength. Also used in ladders, window frames, and screen doors. Aluminum Foil Like a Aluminum cans, Aluminum foil is familiar recyclable household product that is an 1100 alloy. Because of the thinness of the foil however, not all the aluminum is recovered in the recycling process.. Aluminum Litho Plate This is generally used in printing shops and usually more valuable than other types of aluminum. The alloy is either 1100 or 3003 but most likely 3003. Manganese is the major alloying element. Aluminum MLC As with clips this is a very common mix of 1100, 3003, 3004, 5005, 5052, 6061 and 6063. Unlike clips, however MLC is physically a thick solid instead of the thin sheet. MLC stands for "Mixed Low Copper" Aluminum Painted Sheet This category contains any sheet or clip aluminum that is contaminated with paint unless the paint is unusually thick or contains other trace amounts of foreign material. Aluminum Radiators Aluminum radiators are found in most modern cars. These are purchased for recycling with or without the plastic ends, though they're value increase with less plastic content. Aluminum Rims Usually a 6061 alloy and found on most modern cars. Aluminum Thermo Bond Thermo bond is bonded by two pieces of extrusion with a thermo adhesive, which creates an excellent insulation around windows and doors. This type of material must be kept separated from other extrusions. Aluminum Turnings Usually found at machine shops, turnings or shavings are left after drilling holes into a block or sheet of aluminum. They have less value than aluminum sheet because recovery is less in the recycling processes; they are also more likely to be contaminated with oil used for cooling the drilling tools. |
