Hapag-Lloyd – one of top five largest shipping companies in the world, the Hamburg- based company Hapag Lloyd operates in 130 countries with over 320 sales offices world wide. The company has 133 containerships that span four continents: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.


Yang Ming – Established in 1972, Yang Ming is based in Taiwan and has offices all over Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, as well as offices in the U.K. With a fleet of 91 vessels in operation, Yang Ming ships to Asia, Europe, Australia, and North and South America


Maersk – based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, this international shipping company is the largest container ship and supply vessel operator in the world., With a fleet of more than 470 containerships, Maersk ships to North and South America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Australia,


Evergreen – The fifth largest shipping company of its type, Evergreen has over 150 containerships that operate in 240 ports in over 80 countries. Its primary shipping routes however, mainly serve the east coast of Asia and the west coast of North America. Evergreen has Transshipment hubs in Taiwan, Panama, and Italy, with Terminals in California and Washington, D.C.


UASC – Jointly owned by six Persian Gulf nations, the United Arab Sipping Company is known to be the largest shipping carrier of dry cargo to the Middle East with over thirty large scale vessel, UASC ships cargo not only to and from the Persian Gulf, but also operates in North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe


MSC – To date, the Mediterranean Shipping Company is the second largest shipping company in the world, with a fleet of over 376 vessels at their disposal. Though MSC is primarily focused in Europe, the company serves 270 ports worldwide in six continents, and has 350 offices around the world.


CSG - China shipping Group Company (CSG) operates CSNA maintains offices in seven cities over the U.S, and as of September 2008, has about 154 container vessels. It ships cargo to and from China to all six continents. In Early 2008, China Shipping North America was founded to focus first and foremost on the shipping between china and the U.S., with operating offices in seven major U.S. cities


Safmarine – Formed in 1946 by South Africans and Americans, Safmarine, though it is based out of Belgium, is known for its shipping to and from Africa. The company however has expanded much from its humble roots, as it now operates in more than 130 countries, with over 50 container ships


CMA- CGM – A French container transportation and shipping company that has its headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. It is the third largest container company in the world with over 340 containerships that operate routes between 216 ports in 126 countries spanning six continents.


Zim Integrated Shipping Services – The biggest cargo shipping company in Israel, Zim’s headquarters are based in Norfolk, Virginia, although it has regional headquarters in Haifa, Hong Kong, and Hamburg. Zim operates a fleet of over 100 vessels, which operate in 180 ports worldwide spanning five continents.


NYK Logistics – Founded in 1885, the Japan based NYK Logistics, a part of the Mitsubishi company, is one of the best known shipping companies in Asia. With a fleet of over 120 vessels, NYK logistics ships to six continents around the world and employs upwards of 22,000 people.


"K" Line – Founded in 1919, this Japanese shipping company is the third largest in the world, with over 330 vessels and about 70,00 containers. The "K" line operates 26 routes between six continents, and has a North American subsidiary, that oversees a double stack train service covering the whole continent, and 27 offices in the U.S. and Canada alone.
